Who am I?

Life is a journey answering that question, isn’t it?

I am a child of God. Forgiven and liberated (saved) to live each new day to its fullest and to embrace every opportunity to live up to my own hopes and dreams. I am a sum of my experiences, and I like who I am. I’m not defined by my mistakes or my past, but by my heart and mind and choices today. And…so are you!

I identify as…

…a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, striving to follow his example.

…a Postmodern Constructive Theologian who therefore encourages Deconstruction. (Look deep into the cookie!)

…an activist, environmentalist, egalitarian, and an Appalachian, (West Virginian to be precise.)

…a cis-female heterosexual with spiritual/sapiosexual preferences.

…dyslexic and neurodivergent.

Why Stand-Up?

Trevor Noah.

I think he’s a prophet.

No, really, I do.

He speaks harsh truths that we need to hear, and does so from a place of concern and love. I realized during COVID that he was providing a voice that no one else was providing, and saying things the church SHOULD be saying loud and clear!

Often we only hear the voice of the religious right in media so I decided to use comedy to loudly proclaim the concepts of forgiveness, inclusion, redemption, love, and affirmation. Plus…it’s fun!

Now, Not Later

One of the questions I hear often is:
“Why do you bring politics into the church?”

This sermon is my response.

Now, Not Later is a message about urgency—about why silence is not an option for those who follow Jesus. It’s not about partisanship. It’s about the gospel. About justice. About choosing bold, faithful action now instead of waiting for a safer, quieter moment that may never come.

If you’ve ever wondered why I speak up—this is why.
If you’ve felt the same pull toward courage and clarity—this is for you.
